Red Lacquer & Mother of Pearl Box

Once owned by Govenor George Ariyoshi of the State of Hawaii...This magnificent box was presented by Bin Haw Lee and inscribed inside the cover lid.

The dimensions are...11 3/4" X 7" deep X 6 1/2" high...At the very bottom of the main box is a red velvet lining. There is also a removable shelf...The top is inlaid with Mother of Pearl in the shape of a fish...this motif matches the brass, front lock...Metal finishings - must be brass - are lavishly ornamented and used for practical applications on this magnificent piece. A colonial blue color lacquer borders trims the entire outside edge...THIS PIECE IS TRUELY A PRIZE !!!
